Anyway, I've added cabbage, long beans, turnip, tou pok, tou kee, eggs and used evaporated milk instead of coconut milk. We've enjoy the vegetable curry very much just that it could be a little more spicy. Next time, I'll add more chilli paste to it.

Vegetable Curry- Hai's Instant Lontong Paste
Bought a packet of instant lontong paste and cook a nice big pot of vegetable curry. It was a great dish to go with rice as our dinner when we went vegetarian on Monday. Well, strictly speaking, it's not really vegetarian as dried shrimps were used in the production of the paste.
Anyway, I've added cabbage, long beans, turnip, tou pok, tou kee, eggs and used evaporated milk instead of coconut milk. We've enjoy the vegetable curry very much just that it could be a little more spicy. Next time, I'll add more chilli paste to it.

Prawn Noodles Soup
Was having a hard time trying to decide what to cook for lunch. Finally decided to get a packet of prawn noodles soup premix to try it out.
If you find that the egg looks a little strange... that's because I tried to 'mould' it into a star shape :P
Verdict:
Simple enough, just add water and the soup is ready. Just add whatever ingredients you may like in your prawn noodles soup. I used bee hoon. Opps, you can't see the bee hoon as it's all covered up by all the other ingredients.
Tastewise, it was a more spicy version of the prawn soup. It tastes better than the average prawn soup noodles you can find at the hawker centre and definitely much more ingredients!
Next time, I should try to make my prawn soup from scratch...

Prima Taste Laksa
I had laksa again :P, this time Singapore's style- Katong style... Unlike the Penang sour version, this is sweeter with coconut milk. Yap, it's a sinful lunch.
A packet of Prima Taste Laksa Premix, some laksa noodles, prawns, 'tao pok', fishcakes, beansprouts and water...

Cereal Prawns
There was a packet of freshwater prawns sitting in the fridge for over a month now. We caught them during one of our prawning sessions at Bishan. Decided to finally cook them since I found a packet of Cereal Prawn mix... Tasty but a little more on the salty side... This is actually quite unhealthy. The recipe required quite a bit of butter and 5 egg yolks but I decided to use 4. What difference does 1 make? Anyway, now I have 4 egg whites sitting in the fridge... Still haven't decided what I'm going to do with them...

Woh Hup Chicken Curry Premix
Bought a packet of Woh Hup instant chicken curry mix to give it a try. So far I've always used Prima Premix, but it's actually quite expensive , over $6. This Woh Hup Instant Curry is last than $2 as there is a promotion going on. See... I'm becoming an auntie...
Just add a cup of coconut milk/ evaporated milk and a cup of water, chicken and potatoes and an instant transformation to a pot of hot & spicy chicken curry!
This version of the chicken curry is more savory than the Prima Premix. Prima is kind of sweet. Well, I think I still prefer the Prima's version. Anyway we still enjoyed the curry :)
In the morning, I pan-fried some prata to dip in the curry. In the afternoon, we had fried bee hoon that also went well with the curry.

Thai Green Curry
I've cooked this Thai Green curry last week to acompany my pineapple fried rice. I used the Asian Home Gourmet Premix. I just added evaporated milk, fresh oyster mushrooms, chicken meat, baby corn & a handful of frozen mixed vegetables. You can actually add anything you like. Jerome love the green curry very much. A word of caution- it's a little spicy. Anyway, this means that I'll stock up on the premix :) It's about $1 for a pack (on special 1 for 1 offer now) & I don't have spend all the effort buying all the different ingredients & spices & processing them :P So it's just 20 mins for this bowl of spicy & delicious green curry :)

Kai Yang (Thai Aromatic Baked Chicken Leg)
I was at Cold Storage doing my marketing earlier this week & saw the Asian Home Gourmet series of premixes on sale (Buy 1, Free 1), so I decided to give the premixes a try. I don't foresee that I'll be squatting in the kitchen, pounding the ingredients & spices with a stone mortar & pestle, like the little nonya just to prepare a dish. So the premixes are a great idea for me to cook up some new dishes at home.

Premix of Marinade for Chicken
Premix for Hainanese Chicken Rice
The baked chicken legs marinaded with the premix Thai spices are really aromatic, especially with the smell of tumeric (yellow ginger). I just had problems getting rid of the yellow tint on my Lock & Lock container where I marinaded the chicken. The marinade in the pack was for marinading up to 900g of chicken, that's about 4 chicken legs. I only used it to marinade 2 chicken legs which explains why it's a little too salty :P But it's still good to go with the rice.
As for the Hainanese chicken rice premix, I've only used 1/2 of the pack as the pack was meant for 4 servings. I still prefer the "Prima Taste" premix that I've used previously. It's more fragrant. But maybe if I use the entire pack, it'll be more fragrant? Let me try & we'll see...
Now, I still have a pack of Premix for Thai Green Curry to try out...

Japanese Curry with Pork Cubes
After a lunch of Katsu Chicken, I followed up with a Japanese Pork Curry for dinner :P Today is Japanese food day! Personally, I would have preferred to use chicken meat. Since we had chicken for lunch already, I chose pork instead. Next time, I'll try using beef. This is a super quick meal, ready in less than half an hour. And the best part, it's tasty!

Ribeye Steak (Lawry's Marinade)
Prepared steak for the 1st time for Jerome's birthday... trying to replicate a meal from Jack's Place we had last month... minus the hotplate... plus lotsa love :P I'm not much of a 'beef' person... The beef I usually eat comes in a burger. I'm always cooking chicken at home :P So you can say that it's a special birthday meal for Jerome who likes to eat beef.
Ribeye Steak served with boiled brocoli & baked potato
And since it was my 1st time preparing steak, I bought a bottle of instant marinade from Cold Storage... to guarantee a simple success.
I marinaded the beef in the fridge for a good few hours & by pouring quite a bit of marinade to 'bathe' the meat in. I pan fried the beef steaks, trying to get them medium well, not too raw, not too tough. For the sauce, I just heat up the leftover marinade and added some cornflour mixed to water to thicken up the sauce.
For the potatoes, I washed the potatoes & brushed the skin with oil & baked them in the oven @ 180 degrees for about an hour. I put some whipped sour cream with spring onions & bacon bits to the potato & the sour cream started to melt into a gooey mess!
When I placed the plates on the table, Jerome couldn't wait to try the beef. We were really disappointed when we found out the beef was still quite raw... I had to cook it again. Finally, after the extra cooking time, the steaks were just right. Despite the inperfection, it was still a great meal. Jerome said that it was worth the wait ...
This is not so difficult after all. :) Next time, I'll make sure I cook the beef steaks a little longer.

Chicken Curry (Prima Mix)
Feeling a little lazy, it's already Friday :P Was asking my hubby this morning whether it's Wed or Thurs. Almost couldn't believe him when he said it's Friday already. So pulled out a box of "Curry Chicken" Prima Pre-Mix from a corner of the cupboard to prepare a super quick meal of curry chicken for dinner :)

Just have to marinate the chicken (with soya sauce & pepper) before hand for that extra flavour. It's really super easy. Follow instructions on the box. Just add water, potatoes & chicken. And in less than 30 mins, you'll get a delicious pot of chicken curry :)

A bowl of fragrant chicken curry, great with rice, bread, fried bee hoon, roti prata etc...
It looks spicy, but it's actually not. There's an extra packet of chilli powder to spice up the curry if you like. I'll usually prepare the curry for dinner & serve with rice. I'll keep the remaining curry in the refrigerator, heat it up in the morning & serve it with bread. My husband just love to dip soft white bread into the curry and eat it. Me too! :)
